Busy Month

August 10, 2018

We have been busy since the last post. We spent the day with Janet at Craig's surgery and he is recuperating well. In the hospital a night and not much pain. We were going to visit the week after but they came up here instead. He was doing very well and just wanted to get out of the house. It worked out well because Alesa has a friend who going to have the same surgery with the same doctor a week later and was very worried about it. Craig talked with her quite a while and answered all her questions and concerns and she left here very much relieved and relaxed. Alesa's knee is still not where she wants it to be so we went to Orlando on Wednesday for a second opinion. A number of friends have had their knees replaced by this doctor and were very pleased with the process and the results. So, she will probably have the knee replaced early next year. We have been going to the platform tennis courts on a regular basis to keep her current without any (much) running and we have been playing water volleyball 3 or 4 times a week but she has stopped golfing because she has tweaked it a couple of times while swinging. She can pitch and putt but finds that too boring. I have a loose bridge so I am getting estimates from a number of dentists for the repair. I've also been investigating internet and TV providers but Comcast and Directv have lowered their prices low enough for us to stay with them. My brother, Bob called me Wednesday as I was finishing #7 on Southern Star and said he and Cathy were north of Charlotte heading our way, arriving on Thursday. We were very excited for their visit and they arrived yesterday around noon. They were coming down to see Cathy's sister in Deland who is having some health issues. Disappointed they could only stay a day but understand the priorities and they had to get back to Erie. But, they did promise to come back soon. They are both retired so we will hold them to their promise. We kept them busy while they were here with touring and hiking and even a round of "PuttnPlay" golf down in Fenney Village despite the heat. It was great to see them but they left today around noon today. Jeff and Bridget have been in California for the week so they have been calling and texting pictures for us to enjoy. San Francisco, San Jose, Santa Cruz, Monterey, Carmel, Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, Long Beach, San Diego, Tijuana and are now in Las Vegas to fly home tomorrow. An awesome trip with a lot of good food.
