Memorial Day

June 2, 2023

A late wish for a good Memorial Day. Had my follow-up appointment with the neurosurgeon's PA on Wednesday and all is well. They don't recommend flying for 6 weeks after surgery, but we are in such a hurry to get to Arizona that I made reservations for the 16th, only 4 and one-half weeks. I feel better daily so we will decide later whether to keep the reservations or not. My first day of physical therapy was yesterday and I was quite sore last night but it was a 'good' muscle ache due to the PT. I will be doing PT three times a week until we leave. My pain doctor has me reducing my nerve pain medicine over the next few weeks and I expect that OTC drugs will be enough if necessary. We had a solar tube installed in the kitchen last Friday. It focusses the sunlight and really brightens the room. I had to remove a fan and light before the install and the only negative is that we keep trying to turn off the lights when we leave the room. We also had a solar-powered night light installed in the tube which allows us to take a tax credit for 30% of the total cost of the tube install. Plus, it does put a nice glow in the room when it is dark. I have been a spectator for our Sunday golf games recently but I will try putting this Sunday as the doctor has okayed. While I have been on the DL Alesa continues to take 'tough love' care of me. She also walks 5 miles in addition to playing a couple of hours of VR tennis in the garage every day. I did get a chance to walk a half mile around the block with her yesterday. It's a start.
