RIP Frank
September 29, 2020
Mike, our across the street neighbor, whom we golf with once or twice a week had used the same golf ball for almost four months earlier this year and became so attached that he named it Frank. Before each shot Mike would instruct Frank on what he expected and Frank would try his best. Then, one fateful day in August, Frank had enough and sliced himself into the pond on number 8 of Yankee Clipper. We had a small ceremony and left Frank to his resting place. At least until some diver would recover him for resale and a new owner. Mike's daughter visited last week and was moved to create a little plaque in Frank's memory. We scheduled a tee time on Yankee Clipper for last night and Mike, Alesa and I played a memorial round and planted the plaque on number 8 next to Frank's resting place. Knowing it would not be allowed to stay there Mike took it with him as a reminder of his lost buddy. While he has implored other balls since, none have the staying power and respect for Mike's game as Frank did. R.I.P. Life during a pandemic does not have to be boring especially with friends like Frank (and Mike).
