Trip Log

December 15, 2022

Today is Alesa's, AKA Nana's, birthday. We all went out to dinner to celebrate and had wonderful meals at 'High Tide' a seafood restaurant in Gilbert.

Bailey is an architecture student at ASU and will graduate in the spring. Earlier this year, Alesa had asked him to design the house of her dreams and he has been working with her on it.

Alesa and I have both had a cough with an upper respiratory infection requiring trips to the doctor plus antibiotics and prednisone. The coughs are lingering, and we are now at Jeff's in Gilbert. It is far colder than expected with daytimes in the low 50's and the nightimes into the low 30's.

Home safe and maybe sound but a little worse for the wear. My cough has gotten worse and I saw a doctor on Tuesday so I am on antibiotics for an upper respiratory infection. Alesa's cough is less but continuing.

Laura was able to get reservations at Manfredi's, a specialty restaurant, for the six of us for our final meal on board. I have developed a hacking cough and hope it isn't what Glen has which kept him bedridden for a few days of our trip.

Took a bus ride along the city's coast through the 1992 Olympic Village which revitalized the city and started a continuing process which converted the city's coastline from an industrial area to a beautiful recreational and tourist area.

November 17, 2022

Arrived at Marseille this morning. Sailed in during breakfast and the view was beautiful past the islands and peninsulas up to the dock. We took a bus ride tour along the coast and through the city.

Last night, shortly after we sailed, we heard a code 2 announced for the crew. Figured it was a fall or something so we went about our way. Just before I went to bed at 10, I checked the ship's location and it looked like we had turned around.

November 15, 2022

Docked in Livorno as our port for Florence/Pisa. We have selected and optional tour “A Day in Tuscany” to get the feel of Tuscany rather than the crowded tourist destinations. The weather finally caught up with us today as it as it was cool (55) and rainy all day.

November 14, 2022

Got up extra early this morning for breakfast and a long bus ride to Rome (90 minutes). We are docked about 40 miles south in Civitavecchia. It was a nice ride with a stop at a rest area.
