Craig and Janet
Craig and Janet flew in from Tampa Monday evening for a week stay. They were supposed to land at 7PM but were delayed until after 10 so they were very tired. We were following their flight so we knew to go to the airport later. But their gate wasn't updated on-line so we missed them until we connected at baggage claim.
Tuesday, we went bike riding. There were only 3 E-bikes so I just rode around the neighborhood on the touring bike until they were comfortable and I went home while the three of them left the neighborhood. They rode around the 'block' and put in around 6 miles or so. That afternoon we packed up the walking sticks and walked around the water recycle area behind Jeff's house. Our pool has been in the mid to high 70's lately and I have been swimming a bit, but Craig and Janet only waded on the shallow shelf.
Wednesday was the trip to Sedona where we had Sedonuts, toured the area and walked at the Airport Mesa vortex. We then drove up the Oak Creek Canyon road to Flagstaff. There we toured the train station/tourist center before eating at In-N-Out Burger. We had a nice ride home but were slowed a bit in Scottsdale. On Rt 101 there were at least a dozen motorcycle cops pulling people over and, we assume, ticketing them for improper use of the HOV lane. There were four of us in the car so we were OK. Tonight Craig decided to 'swim' in the pool at 73 degrees but everyone else opted out.
Thursday ,today, was a hiking day. we went to Lost Dutchman State Park and we were expecting just a desert walk. But Craig and Janet decided we should do the 3.5-mile roundtrip hike up to the base of the mountain. It was a tough uphill trek and the recent rainstorm didn't do the trail and favors. The downhill trail we opted to take, while easier, still had steep parts and a lot of loose gravel so we really had to watch our steps.
Today I had heated the pool to 85 so we all went for a well-earned dip.
