Today is Alesa's 65th birthday and the Goodmans took us out to dinner at the Thai Ruby. It was a very good meal then we walked around the town square and enjoyed the music. Earlier in the day Bob and I played pool while the ladies went shopping. And of course we watched football.
Trip Log
Thursday afternoon, Bob and Ann Goodman flew into Orlando from Philly and we picked them up after some shopping in town. They will be staying with us for a week. Yesterday, after they rented a golf car, we went to the Dragon Boat Regatta on Lake Sumter to watch Alesa paddle.
Saturday night we went to the Gilchrist Neighborhood Christmas celebration and had a very good time with the neighbors. We had a Christmas trivia contest and our table won poinsettias for each of us. Monday we upgraded our Directv service to whole home DVR (Genie).
Yesterday we attended a free platform tennis lesson at the Eisenhower Rec Center.
Yesterday we had the front porch enclosed with a screen and door. They did a very nice job, now we can open the front and back doors and get a good breeze through the house.
Today, on the way home from golfing at dusk we could see the launch of the SpaceX Commercial satellite from Cape Canaveral, it was cool. Three days ago Alesa entered the world of Medicare so yesterday she was out shopping for doctors.
This is the sunrise from our lanai this morning. We played another 2 hours of pickleball this morning before Craig & Janet headed to Zachary's, then home. Alesa posted pickleball pictures on facebook. She is out paddling and I am relishing the rest.
We golfed a couple of different courses this week and attended an AED class to be first responders. The neighborhood has bought a few AED units (Automated External Defibrillators)and is training residents to be first responders with CPR and AED training.
Becca (nee Crawford) & Jason Rourke stopped in yesterday after visiting with Mary Carol & John in Deland. Today they headed to Clearwater Beach for a few days of R&R before heading back to Erie (work and cold weather).
Thursday we enjoyed a water volleyball instructional session which was great fun and we will be certain to play more. Last night we ate at the Hacienda Hills Country Club with our backyard neighbors.
