We drove into Virginia and stopped where I-81 and I-77 cross at the Fort Chiswell RV Park. It was empty when we got here at 1 but is now quite full of overnighters. We seem to be chasing spring north as we see bare trees on the mountaintops and blossoms and leaves in the valleys.
Trip Log
Last night we visited with a couple from Liverpool, Dave and Joan, who have a son living in Viet Nam and a daughter living in Australia. They have a condo in Sarasota and were storing their trailer in the Chattanooga area before heading home. Very interesting and international
Today we went to Camping World, Sam's Club, Harbor Freight and drove through the Missionary Ridge Tunnel into downtown Chattanooga. We drove around a while and parked down by the river and Aquarium.
We explored around Chattanooga this afternoon. We toured the Chickamauga Battlefield then drove up and around Lookout Mountain. Civil War battlefields are one of our favorite things to visit and the views from Look Out Mountain were beautiful and inspiring.
We have been without WiFi for the last few days as we settled in the Forsyth KOA just north of Macon, Ga. We had a long day with a 250 mile drive from Alachua to Forsyth on Saturday so we decided to take it easy for a day.
We left Lake Waldena at noon as Paul and Carol's 'Circle of Friends' camping group began arriving. They learned last night that the start date for their home was moved up and they will meet on Saturday for final design decisions and make their downpayment.
On Monday we joined Paul and Carol at the Lake Waldena Resort in the Ocala National Forest just east of Silver Springs. On Tuesday we rode with them to the house for some last minute clean up and then drove their second car up here while they went to the closing.
Yesterday we went flying again in Craig's plane and I got much of the stick time as we flew up the coast and then down to the everglades, it's like riding a bicycle, you never forget.
Yesterday afternoon I went over to help Craig replace the magneto wires on his hanger mate's Pipe Cub while Alesa stayed home, did yard work and prepared dinner. We then had the neighbor over for dinner and drinks as she was flying home to Ohio today.
Monday morning we went metal detecting on the beach at Lowdermilk park and came out with 44¢. (Took a while to figure out how to type the cents sign, beware the Ides of March) Good thing we rode the bikes because there was a traffic jam in the parking lot.
